The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) agreed an action plan for preventing and combating HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections for 2021 in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The budget is of 500,000 lei, IPN reports.
The plan comprises activities to inform about, educate on and prevent HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections, tuberculosis and hepatitis. The activities will be implemented through the agency of public medical institutions, family doctor’s centers, youth-friendly centers and the Dermato-Venereology Dispensary.
40% of the budget of 202,000 lei will be used to create video or audio materials, Internet postings, workshops. Veronica Herța, secretary of the Liberal group on CMC, said the sum is too large. Boris Gîlca, deputy head of the Heath Division, noted there will be staged a lot of information activities, not only the indicated ones. He added the investments in prevention activities are much more efficient and cheaper than treatment.
