The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) Tuesday unanimously approved the numerical composition of the specialized commissions. The meeting was attended by 44 councilors, but only 37 of them had the right to vote, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the meeting was held in a positive atmosphere. “We achieved a result as we managed to unanimously agree aspects of the Council’s work. We are to decide the items that will be included in the agenda of the CMC. There is currently no center-left or center-right majority on the Council. The solution in such a situation is to act unanimously. At least the last two meetings of the CMC showed that this is a formula that can work,” said the mayor.
The members of the specialized commissions will meet to choose the heads and deputy heads, who will be later confirmed by the CMC.
In Tuesday’s meeting, the Communist councilors asked for laptops, while Liberal-Democratic councilor Victor Bodiu expressed with discontent with the fact that the party’s name is written through hyphen and demanded that the names of the parties be written correctly.
The Council will have five standing commissions, not seven as earlier. This was agreed in the November 3 meeting of the CMC. The commission on budget, economy, finance, local public patrimony, the suburbs and agriculture will be managed by the Liberal Party. The commission on construction, architecture and financial resources will be headed by a Liberal-Democrat councilor. The PCRM will manage the legal commission on public order and the activity of the local public administration.
The other two commissions – the commission on public amenities, energy, technical services and ecological transport, and the commission on education, health protection, social protection, culture, the mass media and interethnic relations – will also be headed by a representative of the PCRM.
The constitution of the commissions is the only issue agreed by the councilors over three months of the election of the CMC.
