Cloud Computing-M-Cloud week launched

Cloud computing changes the traditional methods of work of the public institutions. The system enables to abandon the complicated software, different for every institution separately, with closed operation systems. The implementation of Cloud Computing-M-Cloud will improve the quality of data management and the security of information and will rationalize public services, the director of the e-Government Center Stela Mocan said during the launch of the Cloud Computing-M-Cloud week. According to a communiqué from the Government, within the Cloud Computing M-Cloud week during February 11-15, there will be organized common discussions between the public and the private sectors on aspects concerning the e-Government agenda of the European Union and other areas. The Cloud Computing M-Cloud platform won the international prize “Best Cloud Project in Central & Eastern Europe”. The launch of this project is the result of the work of the team of the Government’s e-Government Center, which cooperated with the development partners from the Governments of the Netherlands and Sweden, and with colleagues from the World Bank. Attending the event, the Government’s secretary general Victor Bodiu said the implementation of the Cloud Computing-M-Cloud project forms part of the agenda of the e-transformation governmental program. The public sector will work based on common technological infrastructure will ensure better efficiently and quality of public services. In Moldova, there are over 100 data centers used by the public sector. Furthermore, every center needs its own data area, offices, electric power, cooling systems, storage space, software and team of engineers for maintaining and operating these systems. Through the Cloud technology, a number of institutions use common applications stored in a common data center. In order to access them, the functionary must only have Internet connection, as in the case of email. Severs and storage areas are not needed.
