The clock placed on the Triumphal Arch in the center of Chisinau, which is over 100 years old, was repaired and will be started today, February 2. It will announce by ringing the passing of each 15 minutes and the exact time in the Great National Assembly Square, mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban has said.
The most important clock of the country, which is the symbol of Chisinau, is mechanical and is restarted every 24 hours. The person in charge mounts at least 40 stair steps to reach the tower. The mechanism that unites the clock and the two bells installed on the Triumphal Arch was made from specific metal according to old sketches.
The clock on the Triumphal Arch is managed by the municipal cleanup company “Autosalubritate”, IPN reports.
