Clever Group of Romania plans to launch two TV channels in the Republic of Moldova. The first channel is Prima TV Moldova - a generalist television that will act as an aggregator of programs, while the second is Cinemaraton Moldova – a film channel that will broadcast both Romanian and Moldovan films, IPN reports.

According to paginademedia.ro, the National Audiovisual Council of Romania issued licenses for the two TV stations. Thus, Prima TV Moldova (with HD version) will have content from all Clever group televisions, as Irina Radu, consultant of the project, told the NAC members.

According to the documentation submitted to the NAC, Prima TV Moldova will have 94% Romanian audiovisual productions and will broadcast 24 hours a day. “As a result of our trips to the Republic of Moldova and due to our permanent contacts, we ascertained a very big need for content in the Romanian language. As you probably know, some of the channels there have closed for various reasons. In parallel with this, I would mention all the disinformation campaigns and the fact that our trust, and also Prima TV and Prima News have serious and balanced news that doesn’t aim to manipulate. So, I believe that our entry on the market in Moldova will bring more seriousness, correct information,” noted Irina Radu.

Adrian Bucă, who coordinates the Cinemaraton project in Romania, said that the content of the television in Moldova will be different from the content of its Romanian counterpart. “We also ascertained because we have been to Chisinau for several times lately. We had discussions, signed partnerships. We enjoy support from the Moldovan authorities, including the Minister of Culture. We have already purchased content. It is a serious project that we have been working on and we hope it will be successful because the Romanian film is needed. Moldovan productions have developed a lot lately. There are high-quality productions that we will also place on Romania’s Cinemaraton as they are very good productions”,” stated Adrian Bucă.

In both of the cases, the representatives of the TV stations didn’t mention the launch date, but said that they wanted to start “very quickly”.
