Cleaning and garbage disposal works have started in the 11 cemeteries of Chisinau. The municipal authorities urge the citizens to also come and clean up the graves of their relatives, IPN reports.
“Traditionally, ahead of the holy Easter holidays, we carry out an extensive cleanup and waste disposal campaign on the territory of the 11 cemeteries. Last week we involved 11 transport units and also almost 60 employees. Thus, with our own forces, we managed to evacuate about 155 cubic meters of solid waste,” Ludmila Boțan., administrator of the funeral services company “Combinatului Servicii Funerare”, said in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services.
According to her, last weekend saw an increased flow of visitors, especially at Saint Lazarus Cemetery located on Doina St. Respectively, there were also many cars, which made it difficult for the vehicles to move. It was decided that next weekend the municipal services will intervene during the night so that the citizens can still come by car. But in the coming period, car access will be restricted on the territory of the cemetery.
“We call on all citizens who buried relatives to come in advance to clean up the graves,” stated Ludmila Boțan.
For his part, Vitalie Mihalache, head of the General Urban Mobility Division, said that this year too, free municipal transport to Saint Lazar Cemetery on Doina St will be organized on Low Sunday.
