The access of the garbage carrying cars to the dump from Tantareni, Anenii Noi, goes on being blocked by a group of locals. The municipal enterprise carrying the garbage from Chisinau warns it will have to stop working, if the situation does not change in several days, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We can take the garbage to the Purcel mine 2-3 days more. We'll have to stop working unless anything changes,” said Alexandru Bajura, the deputy manager of the company at Monday's staff sitting of the City Hall. According to interim mayor of Chisinau Vlad Cotet, “the only solution is to unblock the access to the Tantareni dump and to build a garbage processing plant”. “There came proposals from the Environmentalist Movement to find another site to take the garbage to, in Cretoaia village. I don't think it will be possible. If there are problems at the Tantareni dump, we might have problems at the other site?” said Cotet. “We'll try to negotiate with the Tantareni mayor,” said the interim mayor. Head of Health Direction Mihai Moldovanu has said that, after analyzing the water in 10 wells from Tantareni, they found the water in four of them was not drinkable. Moldovanu has said 50 persons were checked up in that village, and two were hospitalized because of infectious diseases. The locals from Tantareni are unhappy that all the garbage from Chisinau is carried to the dump near their village. They say the water in their wells is not drinkable and that they have health problems. They want Chisinau to build a water pipe in their village. They also protested in January, and stopped the protests only after being promised their problems will be attended to. They resumed protesting a week ago, unhappy their claims were not settled. The dump is to be used till the end of 2010.
