Voters who will fail to formalize their domicile or residence in a different constituency before August 5 will not be able to vote in the general local elections of November 5. Also, they will not be able to vote in the constituency where they were previously registered either. Under the new provisions of the Electoral Code, the term for registering one’s domicile or temporary residence may not be less than 3 months until the date of the first round of voting.

The Central Electoral Commission recalls that one’s right to vote is exercised in the constituency where the voter has their domicile. If the voter has both a formal domicile and a temporary residence, the latter prevails, unless the term of residence has expired, in which case the former applies.

The special conditions for exercising the right to vote in general local elections are not valid for presidential or parliamentary elections.

The general local elections will take place on November 5, 2023.
