The Customs Service informs that the materials that have recently appeared in the public space come from an isolated incident dating from May, when some of the files in the database were compromised. The institution assures that the incident was an isolated one and that it does not affect the institution’s current activity, IPN reports.
The clarification was provided after a blogger on Saturday morning wrote that “the database of the Border Police is for sale on the internet:, and then wrote that “the database of the Customs Service was hacked”.
“At that time, the incident was handled as soon as it was detected, and the Customs Service took quick measures to remedy the situation and strengthen the security of the IT system. Currently, all the identified weaknesses have been dealt with, and the system works in conditions of increased protection, not being exposed to the risk of compromise,” said the head of the Customs Service Alexandru Iacub.
The General Border Police Inspectorate also came with a comment. In a press release, the institution said that all its IT systems work at the optimal parameters and the databases were not compromised or leaked. “All databases and sensitive information managed by the Border Police are completely safe. Any allegation regarding data breaches within the Inspectorate is unfounded,” runs the press release.
