The General Division of Education, Youth and Sport of Chisinau examined the situation following reports about the quality and quantity of food intended for children at nursery schools. It says that the dissatisfaction about the food ration in nurseries is groundless because all the rules in this area are strictly respected, IPN reports.
In a press release, the institution says the menu in nurseries meets the norms and includes the quantity of fruit and vegetables recommended by the Ministry of Health. Thus, each child benefits daily from 60-90 grams of fruit and 180-200 grams of vegetables. The food products intended for nurseries are daily checked before delivery and then additionally at each nursery school. This way, cases of delivery and receipt of food products of a bad quality or expired products are avoided.
In another development, the Division says that 18.7 lei is allocated daily from the local budget for feeding a child at nurseries, but the parents have the right to provide additional funds for diversifying the menu, based on a collective application.
According to the Division, the sausages were reintroduced in the menu of nursery schools at the insistent request of about 80% of the parents. The sausages distributed to nurseries do not include additives, except for salt, and contain up to 12% of fat. Other products were included in the menu where parents opposed the reintroduction of sausages.
The institution specifies that it does not possess legal instruments for controlling private nursery schools.
