A Turkish man aged 58 set up a clandestine line for melting aluminum in a storehouse in Chisinau. During almost two years, there were produced 90 tonnes of aluminum ingots to the value of 3.2 million lei. Ten persons were engaged in the production process without a work contract and a health policy.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the press service of the Chisinau Police Division Adrian Jovmir said the police seized 7 tonnes of aluminum ingots, prepared for being smuggled out of the country, and special metal melting and processing equipment. The man suspected of managing the clandestine line registered his firm legally, but the license he owned didn’t allow him to process aluminum.

The suspect was put under arrest for 30 days and faces three to ten years behind bars.

The damage caused to the state budget hasn’t been yet assessed.
