The representative of civil society in the National Integrity Commission (NIC) Victor Stratila was sworn in. The candidate was accepted by Parliament in the February 28 sitting, Info-Prim Neo reports. Victor Stratila was selected by contest early in February, being proposed by the Association for Participatory Democracy, the Legal Resource Center, and the Ecologist Movement. The candidate assured the MPs that he is not a member of a party. He also said that he does not have close relations with lawmakers and believes that he will cope in this post. Three contests to fill this post have been organized until now. The first person selected resigned, while the candidate chosen at the second contest wasn’t confirmed by the legislative body. The NIC examines the interest and property statements of state officials.
