The Civil Society Development Strategy is to be reviewed. Proposals for updating the document were discussed in a join meeting that involved MPs and representatives of civil society, IPN reports.
A working group will be set up to review the strategy. Deputy Speaker of Parliament Liliana Palihovici proposed that the document should be finalized by February 1, 2017 and should be then subject to public debates. An expert will be chosen to work out a high-quality document and facilitate the meetings of the working groups.
The representatives of the NGO sector suggested that the legislative body should update the strategy’s plan of action in accordance with the conclusions and recommendations formulated in debates at the annual conference “Cooperation between Parliament and Civil Society” that was held on July 4-5, 2016.
At end-July, the Parliament’s Standing Bureau approved a decision that defines a series of measures aimed at strengthening cooperation between Parliament and civil society within the decision-making process. Working groups will be constituted to think up amendments to improve the legislation so as to increase transparency in decision-making and review the Civil Society Development Strategy.
