Representatives of civil society harshly criticized President Igor Dodon’s intention to take part in the festivities that will be staged in Tiraspol on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the constitution of the peacekeeping mission in the Transnistrian region and to confer military awards on this occasion, describing it as betrayal. The issue was discussed in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

Anatol Taranu, director of the Center for Political Research and Consultancy “Politicon”, noted that if President Dodon really does want he intends to do, this will represent betrayal. ”Igor Dodon feels very well in the position of agent of a foreign state. He breaks state institutions’ solidarity,” he said.

The director of “Politicon” also said that the Moldovan authorities are to take a series of measures, including at legislative level, concerning the withdrawal of the Russian troops from the left side of the Nistru River.

Director of the public association “PromoLEX” Ion Manole also criticized Igor Dodon’s initiative. “Many civilians were killed. There are persons who went missing during the conflict on the Nistru and haven’t been yet found. Dodon would better award the killed civilians posthumously or their relatives,” he said.

President Igor Dodon announced that next week he will take part in the festivities that will be held in Tiraspol to celebrate the 24th anniversary of the establishment of the peacekeeping mission and will hand over awards to Russian peacekeepers.
