A group of leaders of civil society and a number of nongovernmental organizations made a public call to the head of state and members of Parliament by which they ask to designate an upright person as a candidate for Prime Minister. The signatories welcome the rejection by the President of the PDM’s candidate for premiership Vlad Plahotniuc, IPN reports.

“The formation of the Government by nominating a candidate of great integrity and with substantial confidence enjoyed in society and the competence needed to determinedly promote reforms in economy and the rule of law institutions is indispensable in a democratic regime with the rule of law, where the human rights are respected,” reads the call.

The signatories say that the integrity of Vlad Plahotniuc hasn’t been verified by the parties before fielding him. They call on the head of state to publicly denounce any inappropriate influence. “Promoting persons to administrative posts only because these are the main backers of the party and simulating the fight against corruption, the wish for an efficient government, stable internal situation and continuation of the European integration process are inadmissible,” it is said in the public call.

The call was signed by projects coordinator at the Resource Center for Human Olga Batca, member of the Board of the NGO Council Adrian Balutel, expert of the Institute for European Politics and Reforms Sergiu Tofilat, member of the Association for Participatory Democracy Elena Prohnitski, the representative of “Oberliht” Vitalie Spanceana and such NGOs as Promo-LEX, Genderdoc-M, the NGO Council, the Civic Education Institute and the Ecologist Movement of Moldova.

On January 13, the parliamentary majority fielded Vlad Plahotniuc for the post of Prime Minister, but President Nicolae Timofti rejected him. Afterward, the majority repeatedly proposed Vlad Plahotniuc for this post.
