Employees of the Participative Development of Moldovan Communities Program (PDMCP) and community leaders from the villages of Trebujeni and Butuceni from Orhei district clean the Raut river, Info-Prim Neo reports. The action is animated by members of the group of community initiatives implementing a PDMCP project providing for changing the windows and doors of the school from Trebujeni. Its schoolmistress Ludmila Buzila says such actions are aimed at encouraging villagers to tidy up their courtyards. According to her, the PDMCP plans to reinvigorate the nice tradition of Moldovan villages with hard-working and careful people. The ecological drive was joined by some twenty active citizens, local companies and the Trebujeni mayor, Ion Cretu. The IREX/PDMCP employee Tudor Golub stresses the initiative is designed to get the communities together and to develop care for their localities. The PDMCP is a five-year program designed to enhance the civic conscience and to promote the citizens' participation and it has already supported over 280 community groups and NHOs. The PDMCP is financed by USAID and managed by IREX.
