16 fires have been registered for the last 2 days in Moldova. Most of them have been caused by the human factor, either on purpose or by negligence.
Officials from the Civil Protection and Emergency Service say one should not light fires near woods or stubble when the weather is hot. The high temperatures favor the rapid expansion of flares. It is forbidden to set fire to household or vegetal waste, to light fires in open spaces when the wind blows. It is also forbidden to leave glasses which can magnify the solar beams and ignite fires, the press officer Tatiana Corceac has told Info-Prim Neo.
A Moskvich, parked in Bacioi village, was set fire to by playing children. The flames destroyed the car completely till the fire squad came.
A short circuit caused the burning of the roof of a house in Olanesti village, Stefan-Voda district.
An auxiliary building of a household from Camenca village, Glodeni, burned the damages being assessed at 5,000 lei. The cause of the fire is not known yet.
Tatiana Corceac says a 50-year-old man drowned in the lake near Filipeni village, Leova district at 1.50 o'clock on September 5. His body was taken out of the water 10 minutes later, but he could not have been brought back to life.
According to the Civil Protection and Emergency Service's statistics 68 people, including 19 minors have drowned in lakes in Moldova since the beginning of the year. 1,488 fires claiming the lives of 124 people, including 9 minors and 109 vehicles have been registered during the same period.
