Civil cases could be solved through extra judiciary means

The mediation in civil cases could become possible in the Republic of Moldova. The Parliament approved on Friday, October 6, in the first lecture a law project with this goal.
Mediation in civil cases, between the victim and the offender, will be realized by mediators – third party persons, specialized in this field. This is an alternative to the judiciary method of solving cases.
The law project establishes the mediation principles, contains foresights on initiation, suspension and seizing the mediation process, limits the participants, and establishes the rights and obligations of the sides and of the mediator. In order to create the mediator profession the Mediation Council will be created.
Deputy Minister of justice, Nicolae Esanu, declared in the plenary meeting that compared to other procedures, mediation has the advantage of providing more adequate results for the sides involved. In the same time, this method of solving civil cases in cheaper and offers time economy compared to judiciary procedures.
At the end of May, the Parliament passed in the first reading a bill that foresees the mediation in penal cases. The Government will examine the possibility to join these two projects.
