The National Participation Council (CNP) recommends the Government not to endorse the bill providing that the school students should sing the national anthem every Monday. It considers that the text of the anthem should be published in textbooks. In a news conference at IPN, CNP head Sergiu Ostaf said the civic spirit and the love for the country should not be cultivated by such methods.

Sergiu Ostaf believes it’s better to critically discuss the appearance of the national anthem and state symbols. Such discussions should be held during lessons cantering on the formation of the civic attitude, at each school level. The repeated signing of the national anthem will not develop an attitude of respect for the state symbols and values.

The bill was put forward by a group of MPs and is to be approved by the Government.
