City Hall pledged to clean roads in Chisinau daily, twice a day in summertime

The City Hall has pledged to clean daily, until autumn, the main streets in Chisinau municipality. The works on cleaning roads are to begin tomorrow. Interim mayor Veaceslav Iordan told the City Hall meeting today that besides cleaning roadways, which is the City Hall’s responsibility, it will be also needed to clean up sidewalks, which will become the responsibility of economic entities. Interim mayor stated he will issue an ordinance by which the economic entities and state enterprises placed on the main streets will be obliged to install tap pipes for washing the pavement. The operations of washing surrounding territories are to be made daily until 8.00 pm. Iordan admitted that this ordinance will not create inconveniences to economic entities. Interim mayor estimated that the City Hall will cover expenses of 12,000 lei monthly for washing the streets. These expenses, Iordan says, are small, as the water that will be used for washing the streets will be pumped out from the Rascani quarry. Thus, the City Hall tends to achieve two objectives: to evacuate the underground water, endangering the houses built above, and to clean the streets. If in the summer the temperatures will be higher than 25 C°, interim mayor promises that the streets will be additionally washed during the dog-days. The City Hall has already prepared 20 specialized vehicles.
