City Hall offers financial support to orphan first-graders

37 orphans who will become first-graders this autumn received MDL 1500 each from the City Hall of the municipality of Chisinau as financial support. The funds were allocated through the municipal fund for support to the population. The head of the Protection of Children’s Rights Department (DPCR), Svetlana Chifa says that also other surprises were organized for these children, including cultural-entertaining activities and an excursion to a museum. As well, each of the future pupils received school supplies and a bell. DPCR has registered 1175 children without parental supervision, protected through guardianship. 874 of them benefit from monthly indemnities offered by the state. According to DPRC civil servants, the Chisinau Municipal Council approved a program for this category of children for 2004-2007, which includes social reintegration actions and improving their social condition.
