The elevator for persons with reduced mobility from the Chisinau City Hall was put into operation. For a week, it will be in the test mode, meanwhile the State Inspection for technical supervision shall release the necessary documents for the elevator operation, IPN reports, citing a press release of the municipality.

The building and installing of the elevator lasted almost a year, and the value of the project constitutes 1.2 million lei, sources from the municipal budget. It was produced in Austria and has a life span of 25 years.

The elevator is larger than an average one, and its purpose is to facilitate the access of people in wheelchairs, along with their companions. Access to the elevator is provided from two entrances: one from the City Hall yard, and the second - from the one stop shop, Vlaicu Pârcălab street.

Municipal authorities specify that the initiative to build an elevator for persons with reduced mobility came from the non-governmental organizations that demanded access to the City Hall, to the meetings of the Municipal Council and to meetings with the capital's administration.
