The 2023-2024 heating season will be the last in which citizens receive on-bill compensation for energy costs. Starting with the next heating season, beneficiaries will have exclusively monetary compensation, Minister of Labour and Social Protection Alexei Buzu announced in a TV program.
The minister reminded that the possibility of monetary compensation was introduced for consumers who are not connected to gas or central heating, specifying that there was an inequity towards some of the households that did not heat themselves with gas and could not benefit from compensation.
“We will consider how we can further improve this program as we prepare for the next season. We will switch over to a total monetary compensation system, 100%. This will be the last season in which we offer on-bill compensation,” stated the minister.
Alexei Buzu noted that the way in which this transition will be made will be thought out. The monetary compensation is the most effective method of compensation in all countries.
