The Republic of India will be struck off the list of states whose citizens need invitations for obtaining a visa to enter Moldova, IPN reports, with reference to a draft Government decision that was proposed for public debates.
India’s economy has grown significantly and the country became a major global player. It is the ninth world economy by the size of the GDP and the fourth by the purchasing power parity. In 2017, the economic growth in India was 7.1%. The ICT sector accounts for over 7% of the country’s GDP.
According to the authors of the decision, the move is aimed at attracting foreign investments, especially to the ICT sector.
In 2016-2017 and in the first half of 2018, the Moldovan border was crossed by over 3,000 Indian citizens. The Bureau of Migration and Asylum of the Ministry of the Interior in the period issued 325 decisions enabling Indian citizens to temporarily stay in Moldova.
The visas for Indian citizens are issued for a period of 90 days during sixth months.
