The citizens of the 27 EU member states and of other states will be able to work in the Republic of Moldova without needing a work permit. The Cabinet approved a relevant bill to amend the law on the regime of foreigners in the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports
Under the bill, besides the 18 categories of foreigners stipulated in the legislation, work permits will also not be required of the citizens of the EU and those of the U.S., the UK, Albania, Japan, Norway, Switzerland, Ukraine, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Montenegro, Serbia, Iceland, Israel, South Korea, and Liechtenstein.
The bill also provides that the ceiling on working hours for foreign students will be raised from10 to 30 hours a week or 1,565 hours a year. The foreign students will be able to work more hours only based on the temporary stay permit for studies.
The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, which drafted the legislative proposal, said these changes will increase the economic development potential and the investment attractiveness of the Republic of Moldova by stimulating employment, increasing the inflow of investments and skilled labor force.
The bill is to be debated and adopted by Parliament.
