Until April 14, the inhabitants of Chisinau municipality eligible to vote will be questioned about the subject of Moldova’s union with Romania. Six tents were put up for the purpose in the capital city. Simultaneously, over 300 questioners will go from home to home to find out what the residents of Chisinau think about the union. The citizens of the municipality can also pronounce through the platform decid.md, IPN reports.
In a news conference at IPN on April 3, Gheorghe Costandachi, head of the European Social-Politic Center, said those who want can come to one of the tents pitched near the head office of Moldova’s Post Office, the shopping center Soiuz, on the Alley of Mircea cel Batran Blvd, at 23 Dacia Blvd, at the Olimpiada Salon and near the Flacara Cinema in Buiucani district between 11am and 7pm.
Gheorghe Costandachi called on the political parties, representatives of civil society, the population and other entities to be receptive to interviewers’ calls and become involved as the questioning of the population about the union is a free, equidistant and neutral project and this wasn’t commissioned by someone. He called upon the inhabitants of Chisinau not to be aggressive towards the questioners who knock at their door and to state their opinion, no matter what this is, as this is an apolitical survey.
According to Gheorghe Costandachi, after the May 20 local elections, such questioning of the population about the union will be conducted all over Moldova. The citizens will be also asked about other subjects of national interest.
Sociologist Alexandru Gamangii said that on April 2, when the project was launched, more than 3,000 citizens of Chisinau stated their opinion on Moldova’s union with Romania. The interviewers work based on the principle of impartiality and the data collected during one day are centralized the next day. The sociologist called on the residents of Chisinau to be receptive, not to be afraid and to be sincere so that a correct result is achieved.
The preliminary results of the public inquiry in Chisinau municipality will be made public in two-three days of the completion of the process, while the final results when all the questionnaires are processed.
