The motor vehicle owners who have a Civil Liability Insurance Policy (RCA) are obliged to inform the insurer if they sell, donate or replace the vehicle, IPN reports.

“It is important to inform the RCA insurer if the person no longer owns the insured unit of transport as only this way the contractual mandatory RCA insurance rights can be conceded to the new owner without terminating the existing contract,” said the National Commission for Financial Markets.

If the person decides to terminate the contract following the sale of the motor vehicle, a part of the paid insurance can be recovered, if no damages for accidents caused by the insurer in the period of validity of the RCA contract were paid or are to be paid.

According to the Commission, if the motor vehicle is sold without informing the RCA insurer and an accident occurs through the fault of the person who purchased the vehicle, the insurance company bears responsibility based on the RCA contract signed with the previous owner.
