The citizens with expired ID cards will be allowed to vote, the Central Election Commission (CEC) rules on Friday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to CEC secretary Iurie Ciocan, Information Development Ministry data point out 131,000 Moldovans have expired ID cards, as 40,000 of them are out of the country. So, there are still some 90,000 citizens without documents and this is worrying, he said.
As many as 37,000 applications have been submitted for the last two to the authorities to issue new ID cards, Ciocan added.
The State Registration Corporation will issue so-called F-9 forms for free, as these documents allow citizens to vote without ID cards.
