Ciricu aims for gold at 2016 Olympics

“At the next Olympics, I’m determined to win the gold”, declared Anatol Ciricu during his meeting with the First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc. The bronze medalists’ coaches Alexandru and Ivan Bratan attended the meeting as well, Info-Prim Neo learned from a press release of the Parliament. Alongside his coaches, the successful athlete personally thanked Vlad Plahotniuc, founder of the Edelweiss Foundation, for the support he provided during the training for the Olympics. “The medal you brought us from London, as well as Cristina Iovu’s medal, is worth to Moldova more than gold. That’s because you made us feel proud of our country once again”, declared the First Deputy Speaker. The Edelweiss founder thinks that gifted young people need more support and that is the reason behind the Foundation’s special project “Your success is Moldova’s success!” In this context, Vlad Plahotniuc promised Anatol Ciricu he would also receive support for the European Weightlifting Championships in April 2013. Vlad Plahotniuc expressed his satisfaction at Edelweiss Foundation’s contribution to the athlete’s training and added that he cherished weightlifting as the sport of his youth and part of his personal development. “Anatol is very persevering and hardworking, and he put a lot of effort into this victory”, said coach Alexandru Bratan. “I once practiced this sport and I can confidently say that it is much more than physical strength. This sport requires will, patience, accuracy and a lot of work”, declared the First Deputy Speaker and congratulated one more time Anatol Ciricu and his coaches. Vlad Plahotniuc promised he would help renovate the weightlifting gym in Cahul, the city where Anatol Ciricu was born and is currently training.
