Cioresti village elects its mayor

Liberal-Democrat Valeriu Gutu has been elected Mayor of Cioresti village, Nisporeni district, in a repeat run-off on Sunday.
Ion Spanu, head of the Cioresti electoral precinct council, told Info-Prim Neo the elections on Sunday, August 7, took place without significant incidents. “There were a few cases of electioneering in some polling stations. Nothing else”, said Ion Spanu.
Valeriu Gutu obtained 479 votes more than his rival from the Democratic Party, Xenia Axente.
The turnout was 80%. The ballot papers will be taken to the Nisporeni District Court, where the election outcome is to be either confirmed or invalidated.
