Those who love pies are expected to take part in the Festival of Traditional Dishes “Native Place of Pies” in Cigarleni village of Ialoveni district on July 15. The event will take place in the yard of the local House of Culture starting at 1pm, IPN reports.
Diana Josu-Braniste, director of the House of Culture of Cigarleni, who is responsible for the organization, has told IPN that the local priest will give a service in the opening of the festival. A parade of national costumes will be staged later. The artistic program includes performances by ethnic-folkloric ensembles from ten localities of the district and the traditional rural round dance. Folk music singer Doina Arsene is the special invitee of the event.
Diana Josu-Braniste noted the festival is an event that promotes the ethnic-folkloric and cultural traditions of the localities of Ialoveni district. Local women will make at home pies of all kinds and according to different recipes. The guests of the festival could taste them together with a glass of vine brought by residents. “The guests should be eager to dance and eat,” she stated.
The pies and wine will be served free. Locals will also serve other Moldovan traditions dishes to surprise the guests.
The Festival of Traditional Dishes “Native Place of Pies” reached its seventh edition.
