The winter holidays in the capital city will be officially opened on December 5. Until then the authorities will set up the fir tree and the holiday lighting, acting mayor of Chisinau municipality Ruslan Codreanu was quoted by IPN as saying in the November 26 meeting of officials of municipal services and divisions.
According to Ruslan Codreanu, this year the fir tree will be artificial and will be 20 meters in height. This was donated by an artificial trees making company that operates in Chisinau. A sum of 200,000 lei will be allocated from the municipal budget for decorating the tree, while 170,000 lei for placing the holiday illumination.
The acting mayor noted the Christmas tree this year will be inaugurated without a cultural artistic program. There will be a Santa Claus who will entertain children in the central square of Chisinau.
