Christmas atmosphere in central Chisinau

The symbols of 2011 – rabbits and tomcats – are the center of attention at the Christmas Fair set up in central Chisinau, near the Triumphal Arch. Besides figurines and toys, the visitors can find cakes and candies and decorations for the Christmas tree. They can also take part in recreational games and have their pictures taken, Info-Prim Neo reports. One of the visitors, Andrei said that competition at the fair is stiff. Everyone tries to attract the buyers with colored stands and accessible prices. The baubles for fir trees cost between 1 and 10 lei a piece, while the Santa Claus hats – between 15 and 25 de lei. Valentina came to buy a carnival mask for her daughter, who is a student. She said that some of the products at the fair are cheaper than in the shopping centers of Chisinau. But the difference in prices is not significant. A number of buyers said the fair creates an atmosphere of holiday, but they would like the variety of products to be wider. Visitor Nicoleta voiced hope she will find the things she needs the next days, when more companies will put their goods up for sale. Eighty companies obtained authorizations allowing them to sell at the fair that will work until January 14, 2011.
