One priority of the nongovernmental organization “Choice and Alternative for Gagauzia”, presented today at a press conference, will be education. Its representatives say that only with educated citizens, who get involved in the decision-making processes, a democratic society can be built.
Igor Ianac, the president of the organization, stated that the socio-economic situation in Gagauzia has worsened, with the region marked by an institutional crisis. His team analyzed the situation and identified several problematic aspects, including demographic, social, economic, cultural and environmental.
According to Igor Ianac, programs are required both in the economic and social fields, to support the population facing numerous difficulties. And these programs with measures are to be developed by the representatives of the organization, in cooperation with the representatives of the public authorities.
“We are very well aware that it is necessary to establish a dialogue with the public authorities. We are ready to have a dialogue with the representatives of the central administration, the representatives of the regional and local administration. We also want a dialogue with the representatives of the business community, and also with the mass media. I want to emphasize that we do not represent any political group. Please do not associate us with representatives of political structures. Today we represent civil society and have strictly social goals. We are ready to develop the corresponding programs and projects, as well as participate in their implementation”, the leader of the organization said.
According to him, in Gagauzia there are public administration bodies, but there is no representation of civil society actively involved in decision-making processes. The leader of the association advocates for effective communication between public authorities and civil society, public control, participation, and coordination.
