After two months of repair works the bridge connecting Centru and Botanica districts of the capital was reopened for traffic on Sunday evening, August 6, at 20.00. The event happened 9 days earlier than scheduled.
The head of the Public Transport Department, Veaceslav Tarna, announced that once reopened, another high-quality road appeared in the capital, which is connecting 3 districts and allows access to Chisinau International Airport and industrial zones.
According to Tarna, during these two months, municipal workers consolidated the bridge’s frame, replaced the metallic spans with metallic-rubber ones, asphalted and hydroisolated it. Besides, “Semafor-Service”, “Green Spaces Assn” and “Lumteh” provided the viaduct with illumination systems, traffic signs, refitted green spaces and marking lines.
The first stage of the repair works, produced in 2005, spent MDL 12.4 mln, used to asphalt 12 thousand square meters of road. The costs of the second stage were estimated at MDL 13 mln.
The viaduct is made up of 3 bridges and has a total length of 884 meters.
