The Râșcani district head’s office plans to resume the practice of holding agricultural fairs every Saturday near the Sons of the Motherland Park, also commonly known as the Afghan park. This season’s first fair will be held this Saturday starting 9:00 a.m.
Acting deputy district head Roman Andrieș said last year’s fairs proved quite popular, as people could buy fresh produce directly from farmers at prices by as lower as 20% than from other markets in the city. “The location is conveniently selected to be in the immediate vicinity of apartment blocks, and so buyers don’t have to get a ride to the market”, said Andrieș.
To incentivize farmers to keep vending for as long as possible during the season, the district head’s office will not collect any participation fees, but vendors will have to tidy up the place before they leave. Also, vendors will have to bring their own stalls and scales. A mandatory condition is that only farmers are allowed, no intermediaries.
Each fair opens at 9:00 a.m. and typically ends at 4:00 p.m.
