Ten new tractors with trailers attached will be added to the municipal Housing & Public Spaces Directorate’s fleet by the end of this month. Additionally, bids have been called for five dump trucks and five garbage mini-loaders.
Vasile Efros, head of the Directorate’s public spaces and sanitation, told IPN the tractors will be used in the summer to dispose of vegetal waste and construction debris, and in the winter to remove snow, as the tractors come equipped with the necessary removable accessories.
The trucks and loaders are for motorizing the process of cleaning up bus and trolleybus stops and of emptying trash cans, a process which is now done manually, Efros said.
The Directorate currently operates 32 tractors. Some 14 million lei was allocated from the municipal budget to purchase the new equipment.
