The Government decided to repair the Organ Hall of Chisinau with budgetary financial means by the first quarter of the next year, as a result of the multiple petitions from the building’s administration concerning the pitiable condition of the edifice. The Construction and Territory Development Agency was charged to ensure the technical expertise of the sculptures and other elements of the building. It is planned to perform strengthening works, roof front side, internal and external enginery networks repair works, to restore the sculptures on the roof and to refit the nearby territory. The administration of the Organ Hall decided to fence in the building last summer to protect the pedestrians from possible accidents. Director of the Hall Larisa Zubcu warned back in 2004 that besides the deplorable condition of the edifice, the statutes installed on the edifice at the beginning of the XX century are a deadly hazard for the walkers-by. Sources from Property Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism told Info-Prim Neo that the estimated value of the repair works constitutes MDL 20 mln. The Organ Hall of Chisinau is unique in Europe due to its exterior, acoustic and location – in downtown Chisinau. The edifice built in 1901 by the architect Sheidevan under the management of the engineer Mihail Cekeruli-Kush in collaboration with Alexander Bernardazzi houses an organ made by the Czech company “Righer-Closs”, which has 4 thousand tubes with 41 ranks. The last restoration of the building was performed in 1974 when the Organ Hall was inaugurated.
