Mihai Moldovanu, the head of Chisinau's health department, is recovering in hospital from a hypertension attack after an argument at the department Monday morning, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Moldovanu's problems started when he discovered he was unable to enter his office because the lock at the front door had been changed. When he finally got inside, he found there Ion Arteni, appointed as municipal chief doctor in place of Moldovanu by the City Council, and also Humanist councilors Oleg Oniacenco and Sergei Cires.
The said they didn't know who changed the lock, but stated they had the right to interfere in such situations as representatives of the Council.
According to the City Hall's press service, dozens of policemen came shortly to the scene, including two State Guard officers, hired by Arteni to guard the building.
Mihai Moldovanu received a summons to appear immediately before the police commissar's office, but he refuse to do so in the absence of his lawyer.
Moldovanu suddenly became sick and after he was taken by an ambulance, Arteni occupied his office.
The mayoral decision to appoint Mihai Moldovanu as head of Chisinau's health department has been challenged in court by the City Council, which preferred Ion Arteni instead.
