The Chisinau-Bucharest train route will be operated again as from December 12. Also, the Iasi-Ungheni train will run again daily, IPN reports.
According to Moldova’s Railways, the Chisinau-Bucharest train until December 31 will run two times a week, with departure in Chisinau on Thursday and Sunday at 5:20pm and in Bucharest on Monday and Friday at 7:20 pm. As of January 2, the train will run three times a week, from Chisinau on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and from Bucharest in Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The price for a trip remained the same: the SMART (non-reimbursable) charge – €19, a trip in a railcar with compartments – 580 lei, while in an upholstered railcar - 670 lei. Children aged between 4 and 12 will benefit from a reduction of at most 40% of the price of the ticket. Travel documents for trains that run from Bucharest to Budapest, Sofia, Vienna and from there to other directions are available from the Chisinau Railway Terminal.
The international train routes were suspended in March 2020. The Chisinau-Odessa train restarted to run on August 28, 2021. Moldova’s Railways said it is making effort to also restore the train routes to Moscow or Saint Petersburg.
