Chisinau will host 10-day exhibition Painters Against Corruption

The 3rd 10-day exhibition Painters Against Corruption inaugurated at the Exhibition Centre Constantin Brancusi of the Union of Painters will bring together more than 1,000 cartoons. It will last until April 10.
The cartoons belong to painters from Ukraine, Russia, Romania, and Moldova, including works by Alex Dimitrov, Sergiu Puica, Ion Matu, Boris Leonov. The event is coordinated by Transparency International - Moldova (TIM) and the Centre for the Struggle Against Economic Crimes and Corruption (CCCEC).
TIM director Lilia Carasciuc told an opening festivity that the exhibition is part of an ample anti-corruption movement, which the organisation is holding by implementing some programmes of this kind. The efforts particularly focus on sociological researches in the field, elaboration of guides for businessmen, public functionaries, civil society, investigation journalists, drafting on prevention of corruption.
The chief of the directorate general for analysis, forecast and prevention in CCCEC, Anatolie Donciu, said that these cartoons reflect the message of artists to population, which shall cultivate the spirit of non-tolerance towards corruption.
Promotional and information materials of TIM, including posters, calendars, agendas and anti-corruption cartoons were disseminated at the inauguration. The exhibition will be open by April 10, including in holidays. Visitors enjoy free access.
The event is held with the financial assistance of the Britain’s International Department for Development.
A recent sociological survey found that corruption is a wide phenomenon in Moldova while policemen and customs officers are among most corrupt state functionaries.
