The bus station in Chisinau where the public transport towards western raions of Moldova departs from, has been shifted, starting April 20, from Iablocichin Street, “Fidel Market”, to Bariera Sculeni. The decision has been taken by public authorities of Chisinau Municipality. At the same time, the Carriers Trade Union protest against this decision, considering that it affects the rights of the passengers. According to trade-unionists, the new place offered by authorities does not comply with the elementary embarkation requirements, given the fact that the street is narrow and congested with heavy transport; the access to the area is very difficult, because a single trolleybus route is available to this point; the space is not arranged adequately etc. According to trade-unionists, the municipality made this decision without discussing it with the interested persons, and its authors haven’t brought any arguments for the imposed shift. In the name of transporters and passengers, driving on the routes to Calarasi, Straseni, Capriana, Siret, Cojusna, the Transporters trade-Union solicits the municipality’s public authorities to maintain the Chisinau station place on Iablocichin Street, because it is arranged for embarkation and accessible for public transportation from any area of the city. Sources within the Transport and Communication Means General Department of the Chisinau Municipality have not commented on this issue.
