Union Fenosa SA notified Apa-Canal Chisinau that it could be disconnected from the electric power supply. The water supplier did not manage to pay the debt of 7.9 million lei by the July 24 deadline, the company’s technical director Vitalie Midari said at an ordinary meeting of the Chisinau City Hall on Monday, Info-Prim Neo reports. The financial situation of the ACC has worsened as the debts continue to accumulate. The company’s daily collections total about 1 million lei, but this sum is not enough to pay for the services, the gas and electricity and to ensure the smooth running of the water supply. The current repair works on the water pipes swallow a large part of the collections. Late in April, the municipal administration obliged the company to earmark about 13 million lei of its own resources to build the water main going along Uzinelor Street and to implement the mud drying project by using so-called geotubes. Under the Chisinau Council’s decision, the money was to be refunded to the water supplier until May 30, 2009. The City Hall has transferred only 4.5 million lei of the given sum even if the ACC carried out all the works. If the City Hall does not fulfill its obligations the coming days or does not negotiate a new debt payment timetable with Union Fenosa, the major facilities of the ACC might be disconnected from the electricity supply.
