The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova is expecting the agreement of the Romanian authorities for naming Iurie Renita as Ambassador in Bucharest, sources in the Ministry have told Info-Prim Neo. The name of the Moldovan ambassador in Romania has been announced by Acting President Mihai Ghimpu during a TV program on Monday evening. According to Ghimpu, Iurie Renita deserves this post. After the Romanian authorities examine the candidacy of Iurie Renita, they will notify the Moldovan Foreign Affairs Ministry of their decision. If he is accepted, the Government of Moldova will approve a decision to name him as ambassador, while the caretaker head of state will issue a relevant decree. Iurie Renita, 52, is a journalist by profession. He formed part of the first class of Moldovan graduates of the National School of Political Sciences and Public Administration of Romania. In 1996-1999, he had worked as adviser at the Embassy of Moldova in the United States. In 1999, he had been adviser to Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicolae Tabacaru. Iurie Renita also worked with the OSCE Mission in Croatia in 1999-2003. Presently, he manages the foreign company American Tobacco. Moldova has not had an ambassador in Romania for over a year. After the April 7 protests, the Communist Government recalled the then Ambassador in Bucharest Lidia Gutu. Iurie Renita tops the list of possible ambassadors of Moldova abroad. During half a year, the Alliance for European Integration has not managed to appoint ambassadors in a number of states.
