Chisinau Transport Division head to be dismissed

The head of the Chisinau Transport and Communications Division Veaceslav Terna will be discharged from post, Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca announced in Monday’s ordinary meeting of City Hall officials. Such a decision was taken after the examinations showed the repair works performed on Alba Iulia St in Chisinau’s Buiucani district were of a poor quality, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The works were executed not in accordance with the norms. The construction materials used are of a poor quality,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. He stressed he will request the Administration Board of SA “Edilitate” to dismiss the company’s head Anatol Gorbunov for errors made when repairing Alba Iulia, even if he was the only official who accepted his blame. The mayor instructed deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu to consult the specialists and identify a technical solution so as to repair the two damaged sections of the street or the entire street. During ten years, while the repaired sections will be used, SA Edilitate will be responsible for maintaining the road. No money will be spent from the municipal budget, said Dorin Chirtoaca. The examinations showed that Alba Iulia was repaired with asphalt of category V, which is used for secondary streets and for access roads to quarters. The water absorption level is two times higher than the norm. Alba-Iulia was put into operation on October 14, 2010. The works cost over 20 million lei. Three months later, cracks and holes started to appear in the asphalt.
