Chisinau transport chief resigns

Veaceslav Tarna resigned today from the post of head of the municipal department responsible for transport and roads. The information was confirmed by Lilian Carp, chief of the Mayor's Office.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo,Veaceslav Tarna refused to reveal his reasons.
In March, Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca stated Veaceslav Tarna should be dismissed for mismanaging the repair of Alba Iulia Street in Buiucani district. This couldn't be done immediately because Tarna was on a sick leave. For the same reason, Chirtoaca sought the dismissal of the director of the municipal enterprise Edilitate which carried out the repair.
A post-repair inspection at Alba Iulia revealed that the asphalt used was of inferior quality than that stipulated in the municipal contract. Three months after the repair, which cost 20 million lei, fissures and pits appeared in the paving.
