The Reintegration Office of Moldova calls on the Transnistrian administration to solve the problems by dialogue as the attempts to look for persons to blame elsewhere, the threats to take radical actions and the self-isolation tendency will definitely cause bigger problems to the population, companies and local communities in the region The reaction comes after a letter by the so-called foreign affairs minister of Transnistria Nina Shtanski, addressed to the embassies working in Moldova, was disseminated by the media. The letter said that Tiraspol could introduce a visa regime for residents and an import tax of 100% on products of companies from the right bank of the Nistru River in response to the ‘economic blockade’ imposed by the Moldovan authorities, IPN reports.

“We understand that the emotive tone of the letter is generated by the worsening economic and social difficulties faced by the Transnistrian region. These problems are known to us and worry us because we want the situation to be stable in Transnistria and the people there to enjoy decent living conditions. We want the difficulties to be overcome. For the purpose, we must remove their real reasons, the key one being the stagnation of the Transnistrian conflict settlement process,” the Reintegration Office of Moldova says in its answer.

The Moldovan authorities also say that the most efficient way is the responsible and constructive dialogue and the continuation of the talks in the 5+2 format, which offers increased possibilities of helping overcome the economic and other types of difficulties faced in the Transnistrian region to the Moldovan authorities and the foreign partners .

The Reintegration Office says the representatives of Chisinau over the last few days had active discussions with most of the partners involved in the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks, including at high-level meetings, and discussed the necessity of helping the region overcome the economic crisis. Within the existing working groups and negotiation format, the Moldovan authorities will continue to suggest solutions that can help the people, companies and local communities of the Transnistrian region.
