Renowned artists from the Netherlands, Romania, Italy, Ukraine, Germany, Spain, Russia, and Moldova will perform in the sixth International Festival “Johann Sebastian Bach” that will take place at the Organ Hall in Chisinau between March 25 and April 2, 2016. The event includes four exceptional concerts.

Contacted by IPN, Organ Hall director general Larisa Zubcu said the festival became a tradition already and is very popular with the public in Moldova. The International Festival “Johann Sebastian Bach” can be compared with music therapy, which can help spectators to forget about problems and to ‘recharge their batteries’.

The event opens on March 27. The first concert features the National Chamber Orchestra led by Master Cristian Florea. This will have two exceptional violinists as soloists - Liviu Prunaru, the concert master of the best rated symphonic orchestra in the world Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and violinist of Russian origin Valentina Svyatlovskaya, who is a member of the same ensemble. Thus, the spectators will be able to follow a performance of two collection violins – Stradivarius and Guarneri.

On March 29, the public can watch a guitar recital by well-known guitarist Edoardo Catemario from Italy. The artist will perform works by J.S. Bach, Heitor Villa Lobos, Erik Satie, and Kazuhiko Hattori.

According to the organizers, the March 31 concert will involve the Ukrainian band Kiev Brass Quintet that will perform the music of Bach and other classical composers in a unique style. The festival ends on April 2 with an organ concert by the famous Spanish organist Juan de la Rubia, of the Sagrada Familia Cathedral of Barcelona.

Tickets to the concerts are available from the box offices of the Organ Hall and online. These cost 50 to 100 lei.
