Chisinau to host meeting of Moldova-Poland Parliamentary Assembly

The eighth meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland will take place in Chisinau on November 7. Among the most important subjects on the session’s agenda is the European integration of the Republic of Moldova following the obtaining of the EU candidate status. There will also be discussed the assistance provided by Poland, including within the bilateral economic and development cooperation, IPN reports.

According to the Parliament’s press service, the MPs of the two states will discuss security issues, especially energy security in Moldova and Poland in the context of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine.

The session will be opened by the two co-chairmen – Deputy Speaker Mihail Popșoi and Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of Poland Ryszard Terlecki. At the end of the meeting, the MPs will sign a joint Statement of the Parliamentary Assembly and later the two co-chairmen will give a news conference.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland is an interparliamentary consultative body constituted to agree common viewpoints on projects that are of interests to the sides. The Assembly has two plenary sessions a year that are held alternatingly in Moldova and Poland.

The previous session took place in Warsaw on December 5-8, 2021. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland was established in July 2011.
