The ethnic minorities will present their cultural heritage in the 14th Festival of Ethnic Communities entitled “Unity through Diversity”. The event that will take place in Chisinau on September 21 will involve senior state officials and ambassadors working in Moldova, ethnic and cultural organizations, including those working under the Interethnic Relations Bureau, and the national organizations based in Soroca and Ungheni districts, IPN reports.
The event will be traditionally held in the central park of Chisinau “Stephan the Great”. According to the Chisinau City Hall, the event will start at 9:30am with laying of flowers at the Monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy. The official opening of the festival will take place at 10am.
Between 11am and 2pm, the invitees of the festival will visit the improvised mini-pavilions of the ethnic and cultural organizations. Between 11am band 4pm, there will be staged exhibitions of books, decorative items, handicrafts and national costumes.
The ethnic and cultural organizations and ensembles from the central districts and from abroad will give concerts near the central park’s fountain between 11am and 3: 30pm. The festival will end with a performance by the brass band of the Culture Parks Division of the Chisinau City Hall, between 3: 30pm and 5pm.
According to the Interethnic Relations Bureau, this year’s festival will involve about 80 ethnic and cultural organizations representing more than 30 ethnic groups. The event is organized by the Bureau in partnership with the Chisinau City Hall, local public authorities, ethnic and cultural organizations and media outlets of Moldova.
